We are a licensed nursery and our plants are USDA inspected and certified to be free from injurious plant insects and diseases. Although we prefer organic methods, we maintain a spray program and inspect plants on a daily basis. We cannot guarantee, however, that plants are free from daylily rust which may lie dormant in a cultivar for months before becoming noticeable. We did not see rust in our gardens this year and pray that will be the case next year as well. Studies show that rust will not over winter in our area and it has been downgraded to simply a “nuisance” by the US Department of Agriculture. Hybridizers are breeding for rust-resistant daylilies. Maybe one day soon rust will have gone the way of the dinosaur.
